The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognizance of the death of a 19-year-old student in Dharamshala, who was allegedly sexually assaulted and ragged by a professor. The NCW has requested an action-taken report from Himachal Pradesh police within five days, demanding an FIR, arrests, and departmental action against guilty faculty. The state government has suspended an assistant professor in connection with the incident, which has raised concerns about campus security and anti-ragging mechanisms.
