
Maharashtra Congress vice-president Hidayatullah Patel, 66, died from stab wounds sustained in an attack at a mosque in Akola district. The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon after Patel offered prayers, with the main accused, Ubed Khan Kalu Khan, arrested later that evening. Police stated the motive appears to be an old enmity and political rivalry. An IPS officer will lead the investigation, and five others have been named as suspects. Patel was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries Wednesday morning.
