Gudiyatham Town police in Vellore arrested a 52-year-old man, R. Gothandapani, for allegedly operating a clandestine manufacturing unit for banned tobacco products like gutkha. The unit, reportedly run for several years from his terrace, supplied products to retailers in Ranipet, Kancheepuram, and Chennai. Police seized 350 kg of tobacco products and manufacturing equipment. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation.
