
A village sarpanch in Kurukshetra, Haryana, has been arrested for allegedly using a forged Class 10 certificate to contest and win the 2022 panchayat elections. Pawan Kumar, the suspended sarpanch of Kharindwa village, was arrested after his rival filed a complaint alleging forged documents. An inquiry confirmed the certificate was not issued by the CBSE, leading to his removal and a criminal case. His anticipatory bail pleas were dismissed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Supreme Court before his arrest.
