Pune forest officials have rescued six protected parakeets, including five Alexandrine and one Rose-ringed species, from illegal possession and trade in the Yerawada area. Three individuals have been taken into custody following coordinated raids in Shantinagar, Laxminagar, and Tingrenagar. The birds are protected under Schedule II of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, making their trade a punishable offense. Further investigation into the wildlife trafficking network is ongoing.
