
Visakhapatnam recorded 1,086 road accidents in 2025, a decrease from 1,132 in 2024, but fatalities remained high with 349 deaths, an increase from 347 the previous year. National Highway-16 and city roads saw the most accidents. Two-wheelers were involved in a significant portion of incidents, with causes including not wearing helmets, overspeeding, and rash driving. Traffic police identified 68 accident-prone blackspots and are implementing road re-engineering and strict enforcement measures.
