
In Kerala's Palakkad district, a five-year-old girl was allegedly burned with a hot spatula by her stepmother as punishment for bedwetting. The incident came to light when the child's Anganwadi teacher noticed her difficulty sitting. Police arrested the stepmother, a native of Bihar, who has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Juvenile Justice Act. The child, whose father is from Nepal, is under the care of the Child Welfare Committee.
