The Punjab education department has launched a portal to implement the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act's mandate for private schools to reserve 25% of entry-level seats for disadvantaged groups. This move follows pressure from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which had previously admonished the state for delaying the implementation of this provision. Private schools are now required to register on the portal and provide details of underprivileged students admitted under the quota, while parents can also access it to check seat availability.
