Two PhD scholars from the University of Madras, Shalini Thomas and Elakkiya Krishnamoorthy, have received awards for their outstanding theses at an international conference. Their research focuses on the biological applications of nanotechnology, specifically developing a haemostatic sponge to accelerate blood clotting and a bioactive glass for dental enamel repair. These indigenously developed products aim to significantly impact regenerative engineering in India, potentially speeding up the creation of medical intervention materials for bones and teeth.
