The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is expected to receive deemed university status by the end of this month, following an announcement made in September 2023. This elevation aims to enhance NCERT's research capabilities, facilitate global collaborations, and allow it to independently award degrees. Education Ministry officials stated that final confirmation awaits a meeting with the University Grants Commission (UGC), aligning with a government goal to foster a skills-based education system.
