An MBBS student from the 2014 batch at Gorakhpur's BRD Medical College has remained in the first year for over a decade after failing the 2015 examination. Despite not filling exam forms or attending classes, the student continues to reside in the hostel. Existing rules prevent the college from cancelling admission as the student can re-appear by filling a form. The college has approached the National Medical Commission (NMC) for guidance, as repeated counselling and attempts to contact the student's father have been unsuccessful.
