The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is increasing divisions in its non-state board schools due to a surge in demand, with plans for morning and afternoon batches to manage space constraints. Last year, over 2,400 applications were received for just 1,242 seats, forcing the BMC to deny admission to nearly half of the applicants. Three new BMC school buildings are expected by March, which may allow for further expansion and board affiliation decisions.
