
The Kashmiri film 'Batt Koch' has received a 'U' certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after a four-month struggle by its makers. The intervention of former I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was crucial in ensuring Kashmiri was added as a selectable language on the CBFC portal, a first for the language. Director Siddarth Koul highlighted the previous marginalization of Kashmiri filmmakers who had to use the 'Other Language' category. The film, shot entirely in Jammu and Kashmir, stars veteran actor M.K. Raina.
