
Veteran South Korean actor Ahn Sung-ki has died at the age of 74 after a battle with blood cancer. Known as "The Nation's Actor," he had a career spanning nearly seven decades and appeared in over 170 films. Ahn was first diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019, recovered, but the illness returned. He was hospitalized in late December 2025 after collapsing at home and suffering a cardiac arrest. His agency, Artist Company, confirmed his passing on January 5, 2026, with his funeral to be held as a film industry funeral.
