These repairs, expected to take about a week, address worn-out bitumen surfaces and potholes that have caused navigation difficulties and traffic pileups. Tenders for the work were delayed due to technical rejections, but a contractor has now been appointed to fix the damage and maintain the highway for a year. Convex mirrors recently installed at hairpin bends are reported to aid drivers.
