Tripura is experiencing significantly below-normal daytime temperatures, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reporting a deviation of up to 8.6 degrees Celsius below average on January 5, the largest in the country. The IMD forecasts these cooler conditions to persist for several more days, with maximum temperatures remaining 3-5 degrees below normal and minimums between 11-13 degrees Celsius. Dense fog warnings have also been issued, prompting the state government to close schools until January 10 and advise transport sector precautions.
