The quake, at a depth of 42 kilometers, was felt across the island, with its epicenter located 47 kilometers from Manay, Davao Oriental. While the institute warned of potential aftershocks and damage, police and disaster officials reported no immediate injuries or structural damage. This event follows previous seismic activity in the region, including a 5.7 magnitude quake in December 2025 and a more destructive 6.9 magnitude quake in October 2025.
