Soundscape ecologists in South Africa's Golden Gate Highlands National Park discovered that three species of African warbler birds adjust their dawn chorus singing based on cold weather. The little rush warbler, African yellow warbler, and lesser swamp warbler were studied using automated audio recorders. This research, led by PhD candidate Mosikidi Toka, investigates how environmental conditions, particularly freezing temperatures, affect birdsong in mountainous habitats.
