The Assam government is providing financial aid to Udasin Bhakats, monks who preserve the neo-Vaishnavite tradition founded by Srimanta Sankardeva. These monks reside in Satras, which are unique Assamese institutions serving as monasteries and cultural centers. The government frames this support as a restoration of the Satras' status and a fulfillment of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, aimed at preserving Assamese cultural identity. This initiative follows the inauguration of a redeveloped Batadrava Than, Sankardeva's birthplace.
