Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and workers in Punjab protested the central government's decision to rename the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme. AAP leader Harpal Singh Rai alleged the renaming to 'Viksit Bharat - Guarantee Rozgar Ajeevika Mission Gramin' was politically motivated and discriminatory against Punjab. He stated the party, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, would fight for the state's rights.
