Security has been heightened along parts of Tripura's border with Bangladesh following intelligence reports of movement by two Bangladesh-based armed groups, the PCJSS and UPDF. Officials fear these groups, along with other Bangladesh nationals and Rohingyas, may enter India to commit crimes and smuggle goods. Consequently, a night curfew has been imposed in vulnerable border areas of Gomati district until February 28, with exemptions for residents near the border. This alert follows a previous incident where 13 PCJSS members were detained in June 2024 after entering India for medical treatment.
