A Mohali court has sent Harpreet Gulati, an aide of Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia, to judicial custody, denying the Vigilance Bureau's request for further police remand. The bureau sought custody to investigate a Rs 4.90 crore transaction with a Majithia family-promoted company, claiming Gulati failed to explain the fund source and that crucial financial documents were missing. Gulati's defense argued he cooperated fully and that requested documents were with an absconding accountant, not him. The court found the bureau had sufficient interrogation time and ordered Gulati's transfer to judicial custody.
