The Delhi High Court has directed the Centre to consider a retired government employee's plea to include his live-in partner of over 40 years and their children in his Pension Payment Order for family pension and healthcare benefits. The court set aside a 2018 Central Administrative Tribunal order that upheld withholding 50% of the employee's pension and gratuity, deeming his efforts to recognize his partner and children as family not 'grave misconduct'. The court ordered the release of withheld amounts with interest and consideration for including the partner and children in pension and CGHS facilities.
