
Mexico has become a crucial fuel supplier to Cuba amid U.S. sanctions on Venezuela, according to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. She stated that while Mexico is an important supplier due to Venezuela's situation, exports have not increased beyond historical levels and are based on contracts or humanitarian aid. Data from late 2025 indicated Mexico shipped approximately 19,200 barrels per day to Cuba. The U.S. trade embargo on Cuba, in place since 1959, has contributed to energy crises on the island.
