
The Christian community in Mumbai has accused the Maharashtra government of 'double standards' following its decision to grant land for a religious site in Amravati while denying a similar request for the historical St John the Baptist Church in SEEPZ. The community, represented by Watchdog Foundation, questions the government's equal treatment of religious heritage sites, noting the SEEPZ church, built in 1579, has restricted access despite being returned to the Archdiocese of Bombay in 2003.
