Power sector employees, engineers, pensioners, and farmer unions protested outside PSPCL headquarters against the alleged sale of Powercom properties, the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, and the delay in setting up two 800 MW units at Ropar thermal plant. Protesters argued that Powercom lands could be better utilized for substations and offices to improve services, demanding the sale be halted. They also urged the state government to expedite the Ropar thermal plant project to meet rising electricity demand and ensure state self-sufficiency.
