Former militants and linkmen of the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) have begun a relay hunger strike in Cooch Behar, demanding recruitment as special home guards. They claim their identity verification was completed five years ago, but they remain unemployed despite assurances of rehabilitation after surrendering. Protesters state that around 350 surrendered KLO activists have already been appointed as special home guards, and they will continue their strike until their demands are met.
