
The Lebanese military announced it has completed the first phase of its plan to deploy across southern Lebanon and disarm non-state groups, asserting a state monopoly on arms. Israel, however, stated this effort is insufficient, citing Hezbollah's continued rearmament with Iranian support. Lebanon's President Aoun called for Israel to withdraw from occupied areas and urged friendly nations to arm only state institutions. The U.S.-brokered 2024 ceasefire aimed to disarm Hezbollah, but both sides accuse each other of violations.
