
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are scheduled for January 15, 2026, with nominations closing on January 2 and vote counting on January 16. Mumbai is divided into 24 administrative wards, which are further subdivided into 227 electoral wards. Of these, 113 are general category seats and 114 are reserved for women, including those from SC, ST, and OBC categories. Corporators are elected every five years, but the current BMC has been administered by an appointed administrator since March 2022 after the previous term ended. Approximately 1,700 candidates are contesting this election.
