The Madhya Pradesh state government plans to approach the Central Government to acquire vacant land from BHEL for a joint venture project. BHEL has refused to hand over approximately 2,000 acres of its 6,000-acre landholding, citing future project utilization. The state government aims to develop a hi-tech city on this land, similar to Gujarat's Gift City, and had previously received principal agreement from the Ministry of Heavy Industries. Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and ACS Sanjay Dubey will discuss the matter with central officials.
