The Ministry of Civil Aviation has proposed privatizing 11 airports in five bundled groups, with metro and non-metro airports combined. This third round of privatization aims to monetize public infrastructure as part of the National Monetisation Pipeline. The process involves appraisal by the Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee and Union Cabinet approval before tenders are invited by March 2026. These airports were selected based on passenger traffic and investment needs, following a previous privatization round that saw the Adani Group secure six airports.
