Germany has announced a visa-free transit facility for Indian passport holders transiting through its airports, a move aimed at easing travel and strengthening people-to-people ties. The decision was made during German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's official visit to India, where he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also discussed broader cooperation in defense, technology, green energy, and education. While the transit facility simplifies layovers, it does not permit entry into Germany or the Schengen area without a proper visa.
