
The Madras High Court has ruled that individuals have the right to keep idols and worship at home on their own premises without government interference. Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy stated that beliefs linking idols to unnatural deaths are superstitions and cannot justify public interference or state action. The court directed authorities to return removed idols, emphasizing that public interference and noise pollution are unacceptable, and any construction must have proper permits.
