Violent clashes erupted Saturday between the Rwandan-backed M23 group and pro-Kinshasa forces around the strategic city of Uvira in eastern DR Congo. Fighting was reported in several towns near Uvira, with gunfire and explosions heard. This offensive occurred as DRC and Rwanda signed a peace accord brokered by the U.S.
