The ruling BJP in Assam has demanded a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, similar to processes in other states, to ensure only genuine Indian citizens are listed. State BJP president Dilip Saikia stated this is necessary to correct the voter list, alleging discrepancies and the enrollment of "suspected people" during previous Congress rule. He emphasized the need for an updated list for a fair democratic process and expressed dissatisfaction with the current Special Revision (SR) if it doesn't achieve this.
