The Kerala High Court has extended interim protection from arrest for expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil by two weeks, until January 21. The MLA is facing charges including rape and forced abortion. Mamkootathil claims innocence, asserting the relationship was consensual and custodial interrogation is unnecessary. He is challenging a lower court's denial of anticipatory bail. The complainant has also sought to be impleaded in the High Court proceedings.
