Hamtramck, Michigan, the first Muslim-majority city in the US, has renamed Carpenter Street to Khaleda Zia Street in honor of the former three-time Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Khaleda Zia, who passed away on December 30, was a prominent figure in Bangladeshi politics. This follows a previous street renaming in Chicago after her husband, former President Ziaur Rahman.
