Odisha Nears Completion of Special Intensive Revision for Electoral Rolls

Odisha is in the final stages of preparation for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, an exercise not conducted in 23 years. The state has been preparing for five months, increasing polling booths to nearly 43,000 and aiming for a maximum of 1,200 voters per booth. Approximately 45,000 Booth Level Officers have been trained, alongside district and assistant returning officers. The SIR aims to update voter data, ensuring existing registrations remain valid and new eligible voters are added, with about 70% of mapping work completed.
