In Maharashtra, local BJP units formed post-poll alliances with the Congress in Ambernath and the AIMIM in Akot, aiming to secure local power and sideline rivals like the Shiv Sena. These tie-ups, formed without central leadership approval, drew sharp criticism from state leaders, including CM Devendra Fadnavis, who deemed them unacceptable and ordered their dissolution. The Congress suspended its 12 Ambernath councillors involved, who subsequently joined the BJP. Shiv Sena also criticized the alliances as a betrayal of coalition principles.
