Party leaders stated that out of 202 specialist doctors appointed statewide, only four were allocated to Malappuram, a district of 4.8 million people. They also described the proposal to bifurcate Malappuram district as a justified demand for comprehensive development, warning that continued discrimination might not be tolerated.
