An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has sentenced seven individuals, including journalists, YouTubers, and former military officers, to life imprisonment. The convictions stem from inciting violence and spreading hatred against state institutions during the May 2023 riots that followed the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The accused, who are reportedly living abroad, were tried in absentia. Prosecutors alleged they used online platforms to incite violence against military and government targets during the unrest.
