India and Germany are poised to finalize a significant defense deal worth approximately Rs 72,000 crore for the construction of six advanced conventional submarines. German shipbuilder Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems (TKMS) will partner with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) for Project-75I. The German Type-214 Next Generation submarine, featuring proven Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology and superior stealth, was reportedly chosen over Spain's S-80 Plus due to its operational validation and lower lifecycle risk, enhancing India's naval capabilities.
