
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was reportedly captured by U.S. forces on January 3rd in an operation targeting drug cartels, with the U.S. placing a $50 million bounty on him. He was subsequently flown to the U.S. and is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Maduro appeared in Manhattan federal court on January 5th, pleading not guilty to charges including narco-terrorism and cocaine importation conspiracies.
