Bihar's cabinet has approved a draft agreement with Jharkhand to share the Sone River's water, ending a 25-year dispute. Under the 1973 Bansagar Accord, undivided Bihar was allocated 7.75 million acre-feet (MAF). The new agreement allocates 5.75 MAF to Bihar and 2 MAF to Jharkhand. This resolution, facilitated by the Eastern Zonal Council, is expected to enable the long-pending Indrapuri reservoir project, benefiting several districts in Bihar with irrigation.
