The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved expanding stamp duty concessions on gift deeds for immovable properties within families. Previously limited to agricultural and residential assets, this reduced stamp duty, capped at Rs 5,000, now also applies to commercial and industrial properties. This move aims to make intra-family property transfers more affordable, transparent, and legally streamlined, aligning with earlier reforms that lowered stamp duty rates for family gifts.
