Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma alleged that the Congress party is demanding 3-4 crore rupees from candidates seeking tickets for Miya Muslim-majority seats in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections. Sarma stated this practice occurred in previous elections as well and contrasted it with the BJP's process, where no fees are charged for ticket applications. The Congress party has invited applications for the 2026 Assam Vidhan Sabha elections with a non-refundable fee of 50,000 rupees.
