The West Central Railway is installing 3,710 HD CCTV cameras in 1,855 train coaches to enhance passenger safety and deter illegal activities. Sleeper coaches will have two cameras, and AC coaches four. Vande Bharat trains will feature live monitoring, while other trains will store footage for 15 days. This initiative aims to prevent theft, robbery, and stone-pelting, and also monitor TTE activities. The project aligns with a broader Indian government policy to expand CCTV surveillance across the railway network.
