The Indian Navy's sailing vessel INSV Kaundinya, built using a 2000-year-old stitching technique, has entered Omani waters on its maiden voyage from Porbandar, Gujarat, to Muscat, Oman. Economist Sanjeev Sanyal, on board, is documenting the journey, which recreates ancient maritime trade routes. The vessel, described as a "Ship of Wood with Men of Steel," aims to demonstrate the capability of ancient Indian ships for ocean crossings. The 16-member crew is expected to reach Muscat around January 15.
