
The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) impounded five garbage trucks and recommended action against the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and a waste management contractor following allegations of improper legacy waste disposal. Environmentalists and residents questioned the project's handling and expenditure. A case was registered under the Environment Protection Act and BNS sections after trucks were found transporting waste from Chandigarh to Palheri village. The contractor was awarded a Rs 67.96 crore contract for biomining legacy waste in Dadumajra.
