This outcome is seen as a setback for the Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead of the upcoming West Bengal state elections. The constituency is the assembly seat of Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition and a prominent BJP leader. BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh commented on the results, referencing Adhikari's victory over Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram during the 2021 Assembly polls.
